Medical/Specimen Packaging Choices & Features
    Specimen Collection Bags
Custom Pack manufactures a variety of leak-proof specimen transport bags to suit your every need. Our bags are constructed of a durable 2-mil polyethylene to allow for safe handling and are pre-printed with the biohazard symbol. On the flipside, we provide a document pouch for specimen paperwork for tracking and convenience.

95kPa bags feature leak-resistant seals and meet DOT & IATA Biological Substances shipping regulations due to their water-tight properties. The zipper closure is easy to use, providing an unyielding and reliable seal every time. Requisition forms can be inserted into a back pocket on the bags, conveniently accommodating laboratory transportation requirements.

Any of a variety of specimen bags can be combined with other Custom Pack products to create a compliant and cost-effective shipping assembly. You might consider retrofitting one of our 95kPa tape closure bags with an absorbent pad and patented 36-cell rack into a shipping container for means of compliant transport. The 36-cell rack with custom-fitted sleeve is additionally discussed in this section.

    Specimen Tray Designs
Our in-house thermoforming capability enables us to provide you with an inner packaging configuration for specimen shippers, customized to meet your needs. Thermoforming is the process of forming plastic sheets to specific sizes, shapes, and configurations. Utilize a plastic form to hold tubes upright, or close a formed tray with the tubes lying flat with a thermoformed or Tyvek lid stock, or combine a tray with absorbents and seal to create a vacuum package. The possibilities are endless. No matter the application, thermoformed trays make an ideal solution for holding your required number of specimens securely in place during transport.

    Foam Racks
Custom Pack can design and fabricate a foam specimen transport rack to accommodate the required number, size, and shape of your primary receptacles from polyurethane, polystyrene, or polyethylene foam, depending upon the application. In stock and available for immediate delivery, we offer a patented 36-cell rack constructed from a foam material that is not affected by extreme temperatures and is compliant with shipping protocols for both Diagnostic and Infectious substances. Our rack accepts various size vials/transport tubes and allows specimens to be separated and cushioned. The 36-cell rack is offered with an outer corrugated liner that is numbered and letter coded for easy specimen reference. We can design and print, if required, an outer corrugated liner or corrugated box to support any size specialized foam tray during storage or shipping.

    Absorbent Pouches
A diverse selection of sizes of absorbents that can serve as an additional barrier for spills or leakage are manufactured at Custom Pack. From 12” x 16” pouches to individual test tube covers, and 8” x 11” sheets to 2” x 4” strips, CPI can fulfill any current applications you may have or assist in designing a new solution to meet specific requirements.

    Insulated Shippers
Custom Pack offers a variety of insulated shipping solutions to suit your every need…..from molded EPS containers with lids, to knockdown foam panels, to two-piece vacuum insulated panel boxes. Each and every style can be ordered with an outer corrugated carton to accommodate the inner insulated container.

Molded EPS containers with lids offer a reusable, easy-to-clean, form of packaging for transport and/or storage that will maintain a consistent internal temperature. We offer a variety of in-stock sizes.

Knockdown EPS foam panels can be shipped unassembled and assembled prior to use in a carton size of your choice. We are able to customize the inner dimension and wall thicknesses of the individual panels to your specifications.

Vacuum insulated panel boxes offer superior temperature control capability, thereby reducing coolant requirements, increasing interior space, and decreasing freight. Our CPI-100 Insulated Shipper and Multi-Use Shipper, both constructed with vacuum panels, are superior shippers that provide unequalled insulation capabilities compared to rigid-molded polyurethane or expanded polystyrene boxes. The CPI-100 is acceptable for shipping temperature-sensitive diagnostic specimens and biological products, as well as offering a larger interior space. The Multi-Use Shipper goes a step further in that it is complete with components and self-sealing lid that make it IATA-acceptable for shipping diagnostic specimens, biological products, AND infectious substances.

    Gel Packs
Gel Packs are best if used in conjunction with Custom Pack’s Insulated Packaging solutions. All of our products can be custom-designed and logo imprinted to meet your desired requirements.

Included in this line is our new space-saving H2O Acti-Pack, as pictured in the "Images" section. It is shipped to you flat from our warehouse - and upon being immersed in water for two minutes, the size increases as the powder instantly transforms into a gel. Simply freeze for 24 hours before use for an effective means of cooling.

    Foil Pouches
Custom Pack has the ability to create an assortment of coated and uncoated high barrier foil materials into peelable and tear-open pouches for various required applications. Our in-house design and manufacturing capabilities allows us to meet your particular size requirement.

    Bio-Bottles
Specifically designed for sending infectious substances, diagnostic specimens and biological samples either across town or around the world, the Bio-Bottles are easy-to-use, economical packages. They are IATA Pkg. Instructions 602 & 650 compliant. The wide mouth lids allow for easy access, as well as being constructed of super tough, nearly unbreakable plastic. Each bottle includes an absorbent pad and protective wrap.

    Emergency Blood and Urine Kits
Custom Pack’s Blood and Urine Emergency Kits have been specifically developed to facilitate the coordination of statewide emergency response capabilities in case of a terrorist attack. They meet the requirements of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Hospital Bioterrorism Preparedness Program Cooperative Agreement. Designed and approved by laboratory personnel, they also satisfy the Department of Transportation’s packaging specifications required by hospitals, clinics, and laboratories throughout the country. The Blood Kits are designed to handle 168 vials of blood and come complete with insulated container, outer carton, 95kPa and zipper biohazard bags, absorbent pouches and strips, foam rack, evidence tape, and required shipping labels; the Urine Kits are designed to handle 42 containers of urine and come complete with insulated container, outer carton, 95kPa and zipper biohazard bags, absorbent strips, six-cell partition and set-up box, evidence tape, and required shipping labels. Each kit accommodates 40 patients total. The individual contents are for sale as well. They can, however, also be custom designed to meet various needs and specifications.

    Corrugated
Custom Pack currently has stock corrugated specimen holders, specifically designed to handle 240 specimens of blood and 36 specimens of urine. Each specimen tray is universal and can be utilized with either our blood or urine partitions. The specimen tray can also be combined with our newest stock item, the Specimen Tray Lid. The Specimen Tray Lid has transformed our corrugated holders into complete specimen transportation solutions.

    Specimen Shipping Labels
Custom Pack can design and customize various shipping labels to accommodate DOT & IATA transportation regulations. Depending upon different types and methods of transporting specimens, mandatory markings (labels) are required to appear on outer packaging during transit.

    Vacuum Sealing
Vacuum Sealing is the process of removing air from items such as bags, for example, then sealing that item preventing air from re-entering. Custom Pack has vacuum sealing machinery designed to deliver air-tight seals and high quality results. Vacuum Sealing is a convenient and versatile way to meet unique and unusual packaging requirements.
